Alison Jean
Alison Jean is a multidisciplinary artist from Queens, NY. Her focus in Design Studies at Laguardia Community College led to her internship with Socrates Sculpture Park and MoMa PS1 in Queens. She later began her studio experience at Alterwork Studios where she explored art and design through pottery, sewing, and carpentry. While much of her early work explored structure, function and technical abilities, she uses her multidisciplinary practice to examine the tension between belonging, autonomy, and the human experience. Tracing the quiet negotiations that shape identity, the pursuit of freedom, and existence, her practice is intended to invite reflection on rituals, language, and conversation of ones self in relation to society, family, and environment.
